Screen Protector Installation Instructions
Note: Failure to follow instructions may lead to permanent loss of functionality of the screen protector or damage to the screen the protector is being applied to. ROTA America, Inc. disclaims any liabilities associated with misuse or misapplication of these products.
Tools: -Micro-fiber cloth or thumb-sized cleaning pads (included in most products)
-Clean water
-Tape (preferably scotch tape, if the tape is too sticky, it may damage your screen)
-Credit card or scraping card (plastic preferred, don't use something that might gouge or damage your screen or screen protector)Stage One: Preparing the Screen
1. Dampen part of the micro-fiber cloth and use it to clean your LCD screen.2. Wipe the screen a second time with the dry portion of the cloth to dry the screen and to remove any leftover smudges. *Note: for mobile phone screen protectors, use the included thumb-sized cleaning pads to wipe the screen instead.
3. Use pieces of scotch tape to remove any remaining residual dust or particulates. Do not continue to Stage Two unless the screen is entirelyclean!
Stage Two: Preparing your new Screen Protector
4. Peel one inch of the Screen Protector from its backing. Note: If you’re not sure which is which, the Screen Protector has silicone glue on one side, while it’s backing does not. Any labels (in certain models) will be on the backing, not the Screen Protector. Avoid touching the adhesive of the Screen Protector or folding it as much as possible.5. Align the exposed inch of the Screen Protector with a corresponding edge of the screen; i.e. if you’re uncovering the left edge of the Screen Protector, place it against the left edge of the screen. The sticky side of the Screen Protector should be touching your screen, and the backing will be between the Screen Protector and the screen. (*See the embedded video for an example of what this procedure looks like)
6. Once your inch of exposed Screen Protector is properly aligned to the screen, press it into that edge, scraping air bubbles towards the edges of the screen using your credit card or scraping tool.
7. Continue this pattern, exposing a few inches of the Screen Protector, pushing them onto the screen, and scraping away air bubbles. If the air is very dusty, you may need to clean the unprotected areas of the screen again before installation is complete.
Stage Three: Trouble-shooting FAQ
Q. How do I peel away the screen protector to reset it or remove it?
A. To peel off the screen protector, use a plastic sheet, such as the backing that peels off the screen protector or a clean overhead projector sheet. Slide the edge of the plastic sheet under a corner of the applied protector you wish to remove until it catches, and use the plastic sheet to stick to and peel back the protector. If you want to store it, use a plastic sheet to cover the sticky side of the screen protector. This will stop any dust from accumulating on it, as well as keeping your fingerprints off the protector.
Q. What do I do if these air bubbles don’t go away?
A. To remove stubborn air bubbles after installation, remove the part of the Screen Protector with air bubbles, starting with the nearest edge. Use a credit card or scraping tool to reapply the Protector. This should remove the more stubborn air bubbles. If there is dust or other particulates on the protector, look at the next question for more specific help.
Q. Dust is trapped between my Screen Protector and my screen! What do I do?
A. If there is dust between the screen and the Protector after installation, the following repair steps are recommended:
1. First, you’ll need to get some Scotch tape, a sheet of clean plastic (for example, an overhead transparency or the original backing of the Screen Protector), and a credit card or similar scraping tool (remember, don't use anything that might scratch or gouge your screen!).2. Peel off the dusty area of the Screen Protector, starting with the edge or corner closest to the dust area. Before lifting open the area, use the plastic sheet to slide between the screen and Protector. This minimizes dust contamination on your exposed Protector.
3. Use rolled up Scotch tape (with the sticky side exposed outwards) to remove dust from the Screen Protector and the screen, exposing only the affected areas of the Protector.
4. Once finished, put the Screen Protector back in place. Remember to remove the plastic sheet and scrape air bubbles out, similar to the initial installation.
Q. What do I do if the screen protector leaves residue?
A. Though quite rare, it is possible that the screen protector may leave some residue after removal. This is easily remedied by using a piece of scotch tape to remove the reside from your screen. Do NOT try to use soap and water, as it may get into your electronic device and damage it.
